If you could combine any two games, which two would you combine? One of the show’s hosts suggested combining Arma & Portal to create a game that had a tank which would shoot portals rather than shells. Interesting, but I’ve got a few game combinations of my own.

Half-Life 2 & Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Dark Messiah had fantastic swordplay, magic, and stealth mechanics. The only problem was that the game’s story was terrible and the level design was sometimes not up to par. Half-Life 2 has one of the best storylines and some of the best level design I’ve ever seen. Combine them, and you get a fantastic sword and sorcery first person RPG.

Dragon Age and Zelda: If you combind Dragon Age’s dark RPG story with the exploration and well-crafted pseudo-open world of the Zelda games, it would rock. You need to do things in a specific order as the story plays out, but there are tons of optional sidequests and areas to explore.

Borderlands & Oblivion: Imagine four players roaming a beuatiful and varied open world with a well-written story, collecting ingredients or components for craftable items, finding hidden remote areas, and witnessing scripted set pieces.

Beyond Good and Evil & Assassins’ Creed: While Beyond Good and Evil is probably my favorite game evar, Assassins Creed is a newer title, and has better parkour. If Beyond Good and Evil had some open world areas, it would allow for hidden locations and items, free-form chases and battles, and once you get some kind of flying vehicle it would be neat to see it all from above.

Free Game Friday: Vignettes https://greghowley.com/lungfish/2010/01/free-game-friday-vignettes/ https://greghowley.com/lungfish/2010/01/free-game-friday-vignettes/#comments Fri, 22 Jan 2010 15:00:08 +0000 http://lungfishopolis.com/?p=2270

For a game that was created from start to finish in 17 days, and was allowed to have no higher than a 100×100 pixel resolution, Vignettes isn’t half bad. Rather than say more, I’ll direct you to the Indigo Static website, where you can read the creator’s commentary.
