There’s a lot of hate out there for the 2d sidescroller Zelda sequel. I was one of the few who really enjoyed the game. I loved fighting the shield-bearing knights in the game’s dungeons. And I bought the Nintendo DS version of the game and replayed it.

Now, there’s a 3d version of the game that you can play in your browser. It’s really very cool. You need to take a look. You’ll need to install the Unity player plugin to give it a try.

Imagine a version of Tetris in which it’s just about impossible to complete a single line because the game always gives you the absolute worst piece possible. Yes. It exists. It’s called Hateris, and it sucks.

VVVVVV is an old school game. It even looks like you’re playing on a Commodore 64. It’s not a free game, but you can play two of the game’s levels for free on Kongregate. Check it out.

Blosics works on a pretty basic physics theme: throw balls of different size at some blocks and knock the blocks off. Green blocks give you points, red blocks make you lose points. From there, the plot thickens.

Steambirds is a steampunk turn-based strategy game in which you fly a squadron of fusion-powered biplanes fighting in an alternate universe World War I. You’ll take on dusters, balloons, and zeppelins. Each side plans their moves, and then those moves play out simultaneously. I played all the way up to 1950, and the game is a lot of fun.

Continuity is amongst the coolest of the browser-based flash games I’ve posted here. It combines basic platforming of the kind seen in N+ with a sliding puzzle game. The game won an independent games festival, and rightfully so. It’s wicked creative.

Balloon in a Wasteland is a mashup of tower defense and sidescrolling shooter. You face waves of enemies while you work to repair your hot air balloon in order to escape. In the meantime, you can upgrade weapons, build fortifications, sleep, or set traps.

Fun little game – I played it a bunch last night. At first, you’ll think it’s impossible, then you’ll try something slightly different and win.

Everyone know Missile Command. Looks like Atari updated their 80’s classic with online multiplayer, upgradable weapons, and boss battles. Too bad I don’t have a track ball.
