Home for New Years Day? Like Tetris? Now you can play online against other people for free. I’m not that good at Tetris, but I jumped on at 9:30 on a Tuesday night and played two games, and I came in first place. Twice. If I can win at this, anybody can.

Video game documentaries aren’t very common. Many people are aware of King of Kong, but how many people can name even one other? Enter Tetris: From Russia with Love, a documentary about Alexi Pajitnov and his creation of the classic game Tetris. You probably know that the game was created by a Russian in the days of Soviet USSR, but what about the politics and legal issues arising from a game created in a Communist country becoming a commercial (capitalist) success?

Free Game Friday: S.T.A.C.K.E.R.: Nuclear Scavenger

S.T.A.C.K.E.R. is a bit of an odd game: a Tetris knockoff masquerading as a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. knockoff. But it’s fairly entertaining. The blocks that drop can be enemies, weapons, armor, or other useful or harmful items. It can seem a bit complicated at first, but it’s really not a bad game once you realize what’s going on.
