I've recently found myself with some extra free time, and I played through the entirety of Far Cry 5 on the new PC I got. I enjoy the Montana setting, but overall I think it's not quite as good as Far Cry 4.
The most noteworthy thing I've got to share is the emergent gameplay moments, similar to what I did years ago with Oblivion, after installing a custom AI mod. Here are some interesting moments I experienced during the game. Many of these are bugs, but they're pretty funny.
- As I stood on a river shore, an enemy once pulled up to me in his boat, spontaneously caught fire, and then died.
- I was fishing, and an enemy approached me on a jetski. I ignored him and continued fishing. He shot me once with his gun, then he fell into the water, and got caught beneath the dock, drowning.
- I was walking through a dense forest, and was surprised when a sea plane nearly landed on me. The pilot got out, had a very calm conversation with me, and then got back in and tried to take off in the plane, which was lodged against a tree.
- While laying an ambush, I was surprised and killed by two pigs.
- I purchased a vehicle, which spawned on top of my companion, killing her.
- I spent a long time trying to chase down and recover a stolen truck without destroying it. I had finally done it, and was taking a breath in the street, but I was unexpectedly run over by a car I hadn't seen approaching from behind.
- While looking around with a sniper rifle scope, I saw a man surrounded by two zombies. I managed to kill both zombies, saving the guy. And then a family in an SUV came down the street and ran him over, killing him.
- I was attacked by an ox, and killed it. Then by a second ox and a wolverine simultaneously, both of which I killed. Almost before I'd finished with that, I was attacked by a bear. I shot the bear. I then immediately saved a man from a wild dog, and he shot me dead.
- While driving an ATV, I had a head-on collision with another ATV. The other driver was thrown on the ground, and I watched to see if he'd been killed. He did get up, looking around. Then he turned and stared at me. So, I guess he's ok, and I start driving away. Immediately, my ATV has a head-on collision with a car. The ATV guy screams "Somebody get me the fuck out of here!" I couldn't stop laughing after that one.
So yeah, that stuff entertained me. I also has screenshotted a music playlist that appeared in the game, and was ready to look up the songs, but it looks like someone else on YouTube has already assembled the Whitetail Radio playlist.
