I debated for a while about whether to put this article on this site or on GeekDad, but in the end this feels like a fringe article. When I post stuff on this site, I tend to not read over what I've written - I just type and post. Forget about images. So if there are typos, just deal with it.
10 - The Commercials I wrote a two-parter (1,2) over at Geekdad all about these commercials, so I won't go back into that. But having a commercial to go with each era, and having them fit in so well with the show's theme? That was just damn cool. And I've now come to the conclusion that the Lagos episode, When you create a mess, and you didn't mean to, is also in reference to the people she's inadvertently enslaved in Westview.
9 - We Interrupt this Program After the first three episodes, which were exclusively in Westview's sitcom-land, this episode was a breakout. It showed us exactly what was going on, and lent context to the entire show. I loved it.
6,7, and 8 - Monica Rambeau, Dr. Darcy Lewis, and Agent Jimmy Woo Bringing in these three characters from Captain Marvel, Thor, and Ant-Man respectively, was brilliant. They'd all been minor characters, but fan favorites. I loved seeing Lt. Trouble as an adult, and seeing her coming back post-blip. I loved seeing Darcy show up with her new shiny doctorate in astrophysics. And I absolutely loved the reappearance of Jimmy Woo, hilarious as always.
5 - The Philosophy Duel As pacifistic a character as Vision generally is, it's brilliant that when challenged to a duel by the White Vision, his weapon of choice was... philosophy. They discussed the Ship of Theseus, and came to the conclusion that neither one of them was the original Vision. And both of them were. And then Wanda's Vision restored the memory of the White Vision, who flew away. Which means he's out there.
4 - “Agatha All Along” The song Agatha All Along because an unexpected hit. It was stuck in my head nonstop for over a week. It became a car commercial. And there are about five thousand YouTube videos with the song.
3 - The Dialogue The writing in this show, specifically the dialogue, is excellent. Much has been made of the What is grief if not love persevering?
line, and it is excellent. However my favorite line may be one of Vision's last: I have been a voice with no body. A body, but not human. And now, a memory made real. Who knows what I might be next?
2 - Fietro When I saw Evan Peters show up as Wanda's brother Pietro, I just about flipped. It was one of the best moments of the series for me. His character was my absolute favorite thing about X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is possibly my favorite of the X-Men movies. And after the rumors of Sony getting Tobey McGuire and Alfred Molina into Spider-Man: No Way Home, this felt like an early iteration of the multiverse treatment. They kind of undid that with the Ralph Bohner thing, but I still loved it.
1 - Kathryn Hahn Could there be any doubt? Her performance in the early black & white episodes - just her walk - was stunning. Once we got to Agatha All Along, it was just over. She should totally get a best supporting actress award for her part.
