Textbook Disclaimer

I'm filing this under humor, but it really is a sad commentary on society. I found a list of textbook disclaimers not so long ago. 
Many of these are parody, but the first one at least is real. Whatever happened to the separation of church and state?
This sounds to me like a conflict between the conservative religous folks running the schools and state-mandated cirriculum which has been scientifically proven, albeit not to some peoples' satisfaction. And so they act to claim their freedom of religion in denying evolution. Yes, I suppose it is their right as citizens of a free country, but it is also my right to find this all ridiculous.
