My New Toy

Thursday, March 10th 2005 ·

For our one year anniversary recently, I got Linda earrings. She got me this. It's not only a PDA, it's a GPS receiver that talks to me as I'm driving and gives me turn-by-turn directions. How cool is that??

It's called the Garmin iQue 3200, and it's preventing me from getting lost on a daily basis. This week, I've driven to Pueblo three times and Colorado Springs once, and this thing has been a lifesaver. Does my wife know me, or what? Or maybe it's just that she's been with me in the car enough times when I've gotten lost.

On an only partially-related note, after having been in Colorado about two and a half months now, I've just passed the mileage I'd have driven in one day on my commute from Brewster, NY to Hartford, CT and back.

Yea, Linda does know you well... but I thought she would have gotten it for you just for the PDA, and the driving directions were just a happy perk.

No - the primary reason is that she knows I get lost. And given how good I was at getting lost in Connecticut, my getting-lost skills in a state I'm unfamiliar with are quite impressive, I assure you.

You get that from your mother.

BOTH of you!

A quote from Linda...

I bought it for my sanity as well as yours

Logical people tend to get lost when they are in unfamiliar areas. This is because most highway and road construction is implemented with the sole intention of confusing commuters.
