After five seasons, I kind of figured that 24 would jump the shark, that the story quality would taper off and the series would have to end, probably with Jack's actual death. But Sunday's two hour season premiere proved me wrong, and last night's two hour continuation has me hooked.
The writers of 24 are still amazingly good at moving the series in the direction you least expect. I never expected such longstanding characters to be killed in the first few minutes of the season. It's the same formula, but when that formula is working, there's no reason to kill the series. Yet.
