So the house is coming along... slowly. Linda and I actually cleaned out the majority of the garage this weekend. There's still a really ugly brown and yellow plaid chair and ottoman we plan to give away, an end table that isn't allowed into the house until it's been refinished, and various other boxes we have to go through, including Linda's extensive collection of candles and my old Commodore 64 paraphenalia, but you can now see the floor in the garage. Soon, we may even be able to park our cars in there.
The only thing I've really got to complain about the house is our hot tub situation. The problem is that it's so windy out where we live that the wind actually broke two of the four straps holding down the cover and tore the thing off. So now with the broken straps, the cover stays on much less securely. I've got to call the company to see if there's any chance this scenario is warrantied. I'm not hopeful.
In what little spare time Linda and I have, I've gotten her started playing Indigo Prophecy, but I'm thinking she likes Katamari Damacy even more. What a whacked out game that one is. The King of All Cosmos got drunk and knocked all the stars out of the sky, so he gets his son the prince (you) to roll up a big ball of stuff on Earth to form new stars out of. It's really really weird. But fun. We've also picked up a board game called Runebound which is a lot of fun. Fight monsters, get treasure, buy gear, repeat. Still, not a bad game.
My mother will be visiting for a week starting this friday - it will be nice to see her and my stepfather. We're not sure where to show them around yet. Maybe Garden of the Gods? Maybe Breckenridge? At least they'll be able to meet the cats and see our new house.
And while I'm discussing pictures, we've added some really spectacular sunset photos as seen from our new house, and some new shots of the cats, including a video of Bender getting his head stuck in a tissue box.
1) Royal Gorge (If it's open): Not too far from you and some great scenery.
2) Pike's Peak (Although, I think the COG is closed, and the access road might not be open to the top: You can't visit this area without a trip up there.
3) Cripple Creek: There's gambling, and the Molly Kathleen Gold Mine...fun!
4) Old Colorado City: GREAT shopping, horse carriage rides, etc. etc.
5) Garden Of The Gods: Combine a trip here with (4) above, they are close to each other.
6) Cheyenne Mt. Zoo : Worth it for the city views alone.
7) US Hwy 24, Wilkerson Pass, Hartsell, etc. : Take a jaunt up Hwy 24, pass fantastic scenery and summit Wilkerson (I think that's the name?) Pass...decend into South Park and see some buffalo, then stop in Hartsell for a buffalo burger! You can continue on to the Arkansas Headwaters if you want.
