Viva La DS Lite!

June 13, 2006 -

Nintendo DS LiteI'm very excited to be the proud new owner of a Nintendo DS Lite. I haven't yet had much time to play around with it, but it's pretty cool.

The Nintendo DS has been around for a while already, so there's a good selection of games which to me are brand new. The most noticable difference about the Lite is its smaller size, but the main selling points to me were the brighter screen and longer battery life.

I bought two games with the Lite: Brain Age, and Trauma Center. Brain Age is the one I've been looking forward to for the longest. The game proports to train your brain in order to keep it sharp, and ostensibly lower your "Brain Age", age twenty being the ideal. On day one, my brain was 73 and Linda's was sixty-something. Guess I've got some work to do. I know that she did the rapid-fire calculations much faster than I did, but I think I can do the speedreading more quickly. My favorite part so far is when it asked us to draw things. How the heck am I supposed to draw Australia from memory?

Trauma Center is very hard. I know there's some trick I'm missing, because I killed the fifth patient about a dozen times last night.

I guess I should figure out what game(s) to get next. I hear that Mario Kart is very good, but I've never been into racing games...

When two people use Brain Age it will compare your drawings. You will start old but quickly improve. I found Brain Age quite fun as long as I get some time when I can talk at it. I enjoy the Sudoku, it's implemented well.
The new Mario Bros. is quite enjoyable if you like that sort of thing.
Julia loves Animal Crossing for the DS. My son even bought his own so he could play Animal Crossing in his own town.

If they asked me to draw boobies I'd remember.
