Movie Characters Quiz

Friday, July 20th 2007 · ·

I had this idea a while back, and I've been compiling a decent list slowly for a while. This is a list of character names from different movies. I had a chat with Paul about it a couple weeks back, and he came up with a bunch too. So here's the list of characters. The odd numbers are ones I came up with, and the even numbers are ones Paul came up with. Are you surprised that I'm the odd one? Yeah, I know, Paul and I could definitely compete for who's odder. Anyway, enjoy. No Googling.

  1. Jack Skellington
  2. Dr. Richard Kimble
  3. Martin Brundell
  4. Lane Meyer
  5. Egon Spengler
  6. Ed Rooney
  7. Miles Dyson
  8. Stanley Ipkis
  9. Carter Duryea
  10. Phil Conners
  11. Jeffrey Goines
  12. Eugene Tackleberry
  13. Palmer Joss
  14. Werner Brandes
  15. Stephen Falken
  16. Alex Rogan

So, name the movie right?

1. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (Danny Elfman?)
2. The Fugitive (Harrison Ford)
3. The Fly (Jeff Goldblum)
4. Better Of Dead (John Cusack)
5. Ghostbusters (Ivan Reitman, I think)
6. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Grr. He was in Howard the Duck. Jeffrey Jones!)
7. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Joe Morton, I believe.)
8. The Mask (Jim Carrey)
9. Wow. Not ringing any bells.
10. I've got nothing.
11. Again, nothing.
12. Police Academy (David... grr, can't remember his last name, but I believe he passed away last year.)
13. Drawing a complete blank.
14. Sneakers (Stephen Tobolowsky. "Hello, my name is Werner Brandes, my voice is my passport."

The rest have me stumped.

KJ - Not bad at all, although I'm thinking you'll kick yourself on 15 and 16.

Oh, I'm going to kick myself multiple times, I'm sure.

Oh, crap! Alex Rogan (16) is The Last Starfighter, and I have no idea who played him!

#10 - Groundhog Day?
#13 - Contact, one of my all time faves even if they butchered the book.
#15 - Wargames. Would you like to play?

Frank-
Awesome. You got all three right. But what the heck do you mean about the book?? The movie Contact was based off the book, and although I loved the movie, I thought the original book by Carl Sagan was even better. I put up a super-brief book review, and I know the book was really slow in the middle, but that ending was amazing.

is the last one A Few Good Men? I don't know, just a guess. I remember a scene in the movie when they call on a few airmen...

Bingo.
...and I would never have known what 18 was either. Really obscure. I'll post an answer summary soon.

Okay, I'm kicking myself over Phil Conners, as I almost guessed Groundhog Day but decided against it.

I'm not at all upset about missing 13 or 15, as I hated Contact and only saw Wargames once umpteen years ago.

I've never seen In Good Company, and even seeing the name of the movie I couldn't tell you what it's about or who's in it.

So that leaves 11, 17 and 18 unanswered, correct?

My feelings about Contact are this; I watched the movie first, read the book second and then felt that movie could have been much more interesting. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the film but I felt they dumbed it down too much. So when I say butchered I mean they didn't do the book justice
