A Little Trip

March 27, 2008 -

So Linda's leaving on a business trip in a couple days. Guess where she's going? Cambodia.

Seriously. She's going to be designing a hotel out there as a side project, and she's got to visit the site. So last week, she got all kinds of shots, malaria pills, and I think the doctor also injected her with a shot of pure courage. I wouldn't want to go to Cambodia myself.

So I get to watch the little girl for a week while Linda is there. It's cool for the most part - I really enjoy spending time with her, and she's generally very well-behaved. The tough part is going to be getting her to day care in the morning, rushing off to work, then rushing home at night to pick her up.

Something tells me that next week is going to be a very long week.

Cambodia was Kampuchea
Now it's Cambodia, not Kampuchea
Been a short time gone, Kampuchea
Now it's Khmer delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Kampuchea
Lives in Cambodia, not Kampuchea
So if you've a date in Kampuchea
She'll be waiting in Cambodia

Even Istanbul was once Constantinople
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Kampuchea
No, you can't go back to Kampuchea
Been a short time gone, Kampuchea
Why did Kampuchea get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Cambodians

Cambodia (Cambodia)
Cambodia (Cambodia)

Even Istanbul was once Constantinople
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

Cambodia was Kampuchea
Now it's Cambodia, not Kampuchea
Been a short time gone, Kampuchea

Cambodia, huh? Last time I was there, it's cause we got "lost." We weren't supposed to be there, but we got "lost" a lot in those days, it seems. No GPS--just a compass and a map. I remember lots of green, lots of rain and lots of bang-bang-boom noises.

If she takes some photos, I'll look at 'em.
