Frankenstein, Book One: Prodigal Son, by Dean Koontz
I was surprised that this book was as good as it was. It reminded me in parts of Twilight Eyes.
Koontz does a great job of remaking the Frankenstein legend and carrying it into modern day. There are a large number of characters, and they're much easier to keep track of than in some other stories. The characters don't generally boil down to 'good' and 'evil' - they all have their own agendas, and there are as many bad guys who oppose the main bad guy as there are 'good guys'.
